Farmers Market 2023 End Season
Saturday, October 7th St. Michael Church will be at the Aurora Farmers Market for the last time this season.
We will be selling our traditional chifla/nut roll and colac/sweet bread. We sincerely want to thank all our loyal customers for purchasing our bakery. With your aid, we were able to restore the bell and clock towers of this 107-year-old church building, that has been an Aurora landmark.

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light” (Isa. 9:1)
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
It is time for us to pause and see this Light and feel its warmth. As we all know, every year the celebration of Christmas includes so many cultural and family traditions. This time of year, always invites us to reflect upon the love of God and upon His message of hope, joy, peace and gratitude.
Christmas is the celebration of Christ. Christmas is the day when we remember, with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, that God came as Christ to be our Savior. In Christ, we see the image of God, and this special moment is a reminder that we are not alone. Therefore, let us all celebrate everything that this Feast means to our lives in this world and eternal life.
And now, thinking about our family of St. Michael Church, I pray you may see what is ahead, because there is a bright future awaiting. I believe, as many of you do, that God is leading us into a new season of life and ministry together. We can only do this if we stay together and be true to one another.
With this, I invite you to stay connected and do not underestimate the value of your presence, prayers, witness, and giving. I am privileged to be your pastor, and I feel incredibly blessed and honored to be with you. I am confident in the success of our church and that we will celebrate many more Christmas Feasts together.

“Poporul care locuia întru întuneric va vedea o lumină mare” (Isaia 9:1)
Dragi enoriași și prieteni,
Este timpul să ne oprim, să vedem această Lumină și să-i simțim căldura. După cum știm cu toții, în fiecare an, sărbătorirea Crăciunului include multe tradiții ce țin atât de familie cât și de cultură. Această perioadă a anului ne invită întotdeauna să reflectăm asupra dragostei lui Dumnezeu și asupra mesajului Său de speranță, bucurie, pace și recunoștință.
Crăciunul este sărbătoarea lui Hristos. Crăciunul este ziua în care ne amintim, odată cu celebrarea Sfintei Liturghii, că Dumnezeu l-a trimis pe Cristos pentru a fi Mântuitorul nostru. În Cristos, vedem chipul lui Dumnezeu, iar acest moment special ne aduce aminte că nu suntem singuri. Prin urmare, să sărbătorim cu toții tot ceea ce înseamnă această Sărbătoare pentru viața noastră în această lume și pentru viața veșnică.
Și acum, gândindu-mă la marea noastră familie a Bisericii Sf. Mihail, mă rog să piviți spre viitor, pentru că ne așteaptă unul luminos. Cred, așa ca mulți dintre dumneavoastră, că Dumnezeu ne conduce într-o nouă etapă a vieții și a slujirii împreună. Putem face asta doar dacă rămânem uniți și fideli unii altora.
Prin această urare, vă invit să rămâneți conectați și să nu subestimați valoarea prezenței, rugăciunilor, mărturiei și dăruirii dumneavoastră. Am privilegiul să fiu preotul acestei parohii și mă simt binecuvântat și onorat să vă fiu alături. Sunt încrezător în reușita bisericii noastre și că vom sărbători multe alte sărbători de Crăciun împreună.
Fie ca binecuvântarea lui Dumnezeu Tatăl, Fiul și Spiritul Sfânt, să fie cu voi mereu. Crăciun fericit și un An Nou 2023 cu bucurii!

Sarmale for Christmas
1 Decembrie 1918 - 2022
Astăzi este cea mai mare sărbătoare a noastră, a românilor de pretutindeni, Ziua Naţională a României.
La data de 1 decembrie 1918, la Alba Iulia, se împlinea marele ideal al românilor, de a fi împreună într-o singură identitate naţională. Acum, la 104 de ani de la înfăptuirea Marii Uniri, pentru noi, cei de astăzi, este o datorie de onoare să dăm sărbătorii naţionale importanţa şi solemnitatea cuvenită și să ne afirmăm recunoștința față de toți eroii cunoscuți și necunoscuți, care au contribuit pas cu pas la împlinirea idealului de unitate. Unitatea noastră dă spiritul și strălucirea Zilei Naționale.
Îmi doresc să fim în continuare împreună si mereu uniți în jurul comunității noastre. Astăzi de Ziua Națională a României, vă urez din suflet: LA MULTI ANI, ROMANIA!
Holiday Chifla & Colac Sale
The Holiday chifla & colac sale will be on the weekend of November 12-13, 2022. Orders may be placed by calling Debbie Cobb at (C) 630-862-7991 or (H) 630-898-5468 or text 630-862-7991 with the number of chifla and/or colac you wish to purchase along with your name and phone number. The price for a chifla is $20.00 and the price of a colac loaf is $8.00.

St. Michael Feast Day!
On October 30th 2022 we will celebrate St. Michael Feast Day! The day will begin with the Concelebration of the Divine Liturgy at 10:00am. Following the Liturgy, a Romanian dinner will be served in the parish hall. All parishioners (including those who have not attended in a while), family and friends are invited to celebrate this special occasion. More details to follow.

Chifla/Cozanoc at the Farmer’s Market 2022
Saturday, June 18th, July 16, August 13, September 10, and October 1 our church will be selling chifla/cozanoc at the Aurora Farmer’s Market.
Fr. Remus, and Psa. Gabriela will be at St. Michael’s booth in Romanian attire selling the bakery. The Farmer’s Market is located on Water Street Square, 65 S. Water Street in Downtown Aurora. The hours are from 8:00am – 12:00pm.

Annual Fundraising Picnic 2022
Cemetery Repairs
During the past week we completed repairs on ten gravestones. We are planning to repair additional gravestones and we would appreciate any donation to this cause. Thank you to Mark Buga for volunteering to help with this project. Please download pictures with before and after repairs.
An underground pipe at the cemetery burst over the winter months. As soon as we are able to raise the funds, we will attempt the repairs. There is one faucet located in the northeast portion of the cemetery that is still operable. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Dear Friends,
In light of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Consulate General of Romania to Chicago is supporting, together with Embassy of Romania and the Romanian United Fund – a Romanian-American organization from Chicago, a fundraising campaign to help Ukrainian nationals who are seeking refuge in Romania. Through this campaign we are encouraging the Romanian communities in the Midwest and beyond, churches and professional organizations to donate for the Ukrainian refugees who are innocent victims of this war.
The money raised will be used to help provide food, accommodation and health related necessities for all those who arrive in Romania. The Romanian United Fund (RUF) is a U.S. based 501(c)3 organization registered in the State of Illinois. RUF in the past has raised 1.4M dollars and financed a series of projects in Romania and across the Romanian diaspora.

Holiday remind us that there is something else to our lives than the day-to-day struggle to earn a living, stay healthy and raise family. Though the grace of Christmas lasts all the year, this day offers us the opportunity to see it reflected in the faces of those around us - not just family and friends, but the poor, the sick, the unlovely, the unwanted. Dear Parishioners,
With deep joy and gratitude, I extend to you my prayerful best wishes for a holy and blessed Christmas. Whatever it is that our hearts and souls desire, whether we realize it or not, our ultimate desire is Jesus Himself, for this reason, we are filled with joy and consolation at Christmas to know that all that we hoped for has been fulfilled in the person of the Christ Child. On that first Christmas, the angels praised God, saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to men of good will.” The shepherds came and adored the newborn Savior. We too need to pause and treasure the gift of Christmas in our hearts.
Moreover, we must not let Christmas just be a passing day. Live in the spirit of Christmas each day.
Reflect upon how to better treasure this gift each day by making prayer a critical part of your day.
Lastly as your pastor, I treasure the gift of you and the dedication, sacrifices, and hard work you have shown to make this parish a beacon of Christ’s love.

Căci Prunc s-a născut nouă, un Fiu s-a dat nouă, a Cărui stăpânire e pe umărul Lui şi se cheamă numele Lui: Înger de mare sfat, Sfetnic minunat, Dumnezeu tare, biruitor, Domn al păcii,
Părinte al veacului ce va să fie. Is 9:6
Dragi enoriași,
Cu profundă bucurie și recunoștință, vă transmit cele mai calde urări de rugăciune pentru un Crăciun sfânt și binecuvântat. Chiar dacă tot ceea ce inimile și sufletele noastre își doresc sau ceea ne propunem se realizează sau nu, dorința noastră supremă trebuie să rămână Isus Însuși, iar din acest motiv, suntem plini de bucurie și mângâiere de Crăciun să știm că tot ceea ce am sperat s-a împlinit în persoana Pruncului Hristos.
În acel prim Crăciun, îngerii L-au lăudat pe Dumnezeu, spunând: „Mărire întru cei de sus lui Dumnezeu și pe pământ pace, între oameni bunăvoire”. Au venit păstorii și l-au adorat pe Mântuitorul nou născut.
Asemenea și noi să ne oprim și să păstrăm darul Nașterii Domnului în inimile noastre.
Mai mult, nu trebuie să lăsăm ca Sărbătoarea Nașterii Domnului să fie doar o zi trecătoare, ci să trăim în spiritul sărbătorii în fiecare zi, gândindu-ne la cum să prețuim mai bine acest dar, făcând rugăciunea o parte esențială a vieții noastre.
În încheiere, în calitatea mea de preot, doresc să știți că prețuiesc darul, dăruirea, sacrificiile și munca grea de care dați dovadă pentru a face din parohia noastră un far al iubirii lui Hristos.
Fie ca Domnul nostru Isus Hristos, născut în Betleem, să vă binecuvânteze pe toți,

CHRISTMAS PARTY
Join us for St. Michael's Christmas Party on Sunday, December 19th. We will be caroling directly following the liturgy, and then everyone is welcome downstairs in the Church hall. We will have a special visit from Santa! This year we will be participating in the Angel Tree program with the local Salvation Army here in Aurora. Bring a toy (new, unwrapped) to donate to families and children in need this holiday season. Bring an appetizer, dish, or dessert to share.

Va invitam sa ne fiti alaturi in data de 19 Decembrie la evenimentul organizat cu ocazia Sarbatorii Nasterii Domnului. La sfarsitul Sfintei Liturghii vom colinda, iar apoi cei prezenti vor fi invitati in sala bisericii. Tot in cadrul aceluiasi eveniment, copiii vor avea parte de vizita lui Mos Craciun! In acest an, cei care doresc sunt invitati sa ne sprijine in demersul nostru in cadrul programului Angel Tree” organizat de catre Salvation Army. In acest sens, va rugam sa donati o jucarie noua copiilor din familiile nevoiase. Cine doreste poate aduce si o mica gustare, ce poate fi impartita cu ceilalti!

1. The Ambassador of Romania to the United States of America H.E. Dan-Andrei Muraru will be visiting our Church this Saturday, November 13th 2021 at 10:30 AM. We invite you all to welcome Ambassador Andrei Muraru as well as the Consul General of Romania in Chicago, Mr. Tiberiu Trifan.

2. A Memorial service will be held this Sunday, November 14th 2021 in memory of all members of St. Michael’s Church. Directly after the Holy Liturgy, the Memorial Service will be held at the St. Michael’s Cemetery and after, everyone is invited back to the Church for our Sunday Coffee hour. If whether does not permit, the Memorial Service will be held in Church directly after the Holy Liturgy. Please provide your list of loved ones to be included in service to Father Remus on Sunday.

Dorim sa impartasim cu dumneavoastra doua anunturi :
1. Ambasadorul României în Statele Unite ale Americii S.E. Dan-Andrei Muraru va vizita Biserica noastră sâmbătă, 13 noiembrie 2021, la ora 10:30. 2. O slujbă de pomenire va avea loc duminică, 14 noiembrie 2021, în memoria tuturor membrilor Bisericii Sf. Mihail. Imediat după Sfânta Liturghie, slujba de pomenire va avea loc la Cimitirul Sf. 2021 December 19th. Join us for St. Michael's Christmas Party. We will be caroling directly following the liturgy, and then everyone is welcome downstairs in the Church hall. We will have a special visit from Santa! This year we will be participating in the Angel Tree program with the local Salvation Army here in Aurora. Bring a toy (unwrapped) to donate to families and children in need this holiday season. Bring an appetizer, dish, or dessert to share.
2021 November 13th. The Ambassador of Romania to the United States of America H.E. Dan-Andrei Muraru will be visiting our Church this Saturday, November 13th at 10:30 AM. We invite you all to welcome Ambassador Andrei Muraru as well as the Consul General of Romania in Chicago, Mr. Tiberiu Trifan. Photos and videos from this event can be viewed here.
2021 November 14th. A Memorial service will be held this Sunday, November 14th in memory of all members of St. Michael’s Church. Directly after the Holy Liturgy, the Memorial Service will be held at the St. Michael’s Cemetery and after, everyone is invited back to the Church for our Sunday Coffee hour. If whether does not permit, the Memorial Service will be held in Church directly after the Holy Liturgy. Please provide your list of loved ones to be included in service to Father Remus on Sunday
